Armchair Apocrypha Strip away the music of an Andrew Bird song, and you’re left with brilliant prose (”across the great chasms and schisms and the sudden aneurysms”), vignettes about mentally fending off plane crashes, infiltrating characters like the kings of Macedonia and Lou Dobbs, and titles such as “Yawny at the Apocalyspe.” It’s hard to believe that, really, his music reigns, but when Bird adds understated acoustic guitars, Wurlitzer and Rhodes, and his own mesmerizing pizzicato violin, his songs take on a progressive mood all their own. The Chicago Bird’s tenth album (and his debut for extraordinary Mississippi blues label Fat Possum) is perhaps his most diverse, expansive, and resourceful yet, catering to a half-dozen genres of music while exploring storylines that are na ve (”Dark Matter”), candid (”Fiery Crash”), and blatantly comical (”Armchairs”). Making no palpable effort to crack the conventional with overflowing melodies and love songs, Bird instead latches up the intellect to create tiny packages of literature that make always leave you thinking–and snapping your fingers at the same time. –Scott Holter
Customer Review: Different
This is a great album…quite different than anything I have heard. Andrew Bird is an excellent song writer and musician. There is a great deal to appreciate from this album.
Customer Review: Imitosis Squared : One Step Closer to Greatness
Andrew Bird is certainly a talented musician. On this, his most accomplished record, he again defies genre by mixing sound elements to such a degree that any sense of his past musical achievements is at once altered in one swoop. The great part about this entire endeavor is that despite Andrews’ growth as a musician, he pays extra attention to his lyrics. To say that his lyrics are glorious is an understatement - in fact, they are epic poems of their own, and being set to music is just one part of the magical ride Bird takes us on here.

Customer Review: I love this DVD!!
I received an electric guitar for Christmas, and not knowing how to play a single note, I turned to this DVD. It really works! Although I would probably recommend some lessons, just for the sake of correction, this DVD is the right one to turn to if you can’t afford them. I have learned notes, rhythms, picking, and chords all through this helpful DVD. It’s almost like having Keith Wyatt sit down with you and go through the lessons! I especially like the practice track so that I can just sit down whenever I want to and practice chords and stuff without having to go through the whole lesson again. The DVD was a great help to me! I wouldn’t recommend any other!!!
Customer Review: Very helpful
