Yamaha PA3B Power Adapter for Portable Electronic Keyboards and Digital Drums The Yamaha DD9M Touch Sensitive Digital Drum Kit first impressed us by how lightweight and portable it was. After out first test, we liked the sound and the feel of the four touch-sensitive pads. The touch-sensitive feature lets you hit the pad hard or soft and change the subsequent volume or sound, just like a real drum.
For such a small unit the DD9M has an amazing range of volume without producing distortion at its loudest. It is a good thing that Yamaha installed a headphone jack to keep parents or neighbors sane during extended practice sessions. Yamaha also provides drumsticks. The design of the DD9M is such that you never need to put the drumsticks down to move through the 55 instrument and sound effects. It was very easy to tap all necessary buttons with the tips of the sticks. This is a crucial feature when you’re practicing or playing live.
The DD9M has 100 Auto Rhythm Styles and you can play along with any of them. The Tap Start function allows you to tap out your own tempo to start any of the song styles. This is a great feature for beginners playing along at their own pace. It would even be a nice application for someone trying to record tracks so you could manually synchronize up the drum track.
We had some initial problems hunting down an AC adapter to get started. This kit does not include batteries or and AC adapter. You’ll need to purchase the Yamaha PA3B Power Adapter separately.
As an experiment, we even tried to play the DD9M while it rested in our lap. It was a little awkward at first, but it was something that could be done if you really needed to. More than anything, this just illustrates how portable it is. However, for extended playing you may want to invest in a drum stand. If you loaded the kit up with batteries, you could take it almost anywhere you had room to swing the sticks.
The DD9M has a simple and easy-to-understand interface. The manual was also very easy to navigate. On the whole, the DD9M is a simple drum machine but is a load of fun and can still be used for some serious applications. –Brian Vandiver

Customer Review: so good a deal on online store
it’sreally a hassle trying to buy electronic accessories at established electronic retailers (Best Buy, Circuit City..) I happened to find that lots of accessories are sold online at Amazon.com at better price. Even the main equipment itself (such as keyboard) is cheaper. You can search easily, compare price, check if it is compatible…all the values that you can hardly get at brick-and-mortar
Customer Review: It,s a good deal
